This exhibittion at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is a reflection on one of the works in this collection, entitled Moonlit Landscape with a Road beside a Canal ( ca. 1645-50) by the Dutch painter Aert van der Neer ( Amsterdam 1603-1677). This author was one of the most important landscape painters of the Dutch Golden Age.
Taking this painting as a starting point. The artist has made twenty-three works- exclusively for this exhibition- based on two points.
Firstly, from the formal point of view of its support. Secondly, based on its content and essence, having as main inspiration the fact that this panel was painted at a tie when the composition of landscape painting in Holland was changing, for in the 1630s celestal compositions acquired great relevance.
