Flor Brunel is the artist and creator behind this small family workshop and business.
For as long as she can remember, she has been driven by an immense curiosity for all artistic materials: understanding their origin, learning how to use them, and discovering how to make them. In this pursuit, she has explored multiple disciplines: oils, temperas, paper, notebooks, pastels, inks, and much more.
She works with pure pigments, painting with a wide variety of techniques, especially watercolors. Due to her infinite love for this technique and her appreciation for things she considers beautiful, she decided to create something she needed and that didn't exist.
Since 2006, driven by her love for watercolor and beauty, she created Brunel: a unique approach to painting. There, Flor produces professional-grade artisanal watercolors, handmade with pure artist-grade pigments, in small, limited editions. Each piece is produced sustainably, with zero waste, plastic-free, and free of animal-derived ingredients, standing out for the incomparable intensity and vibrancy of its colors.
At Brunel, each watercolor is born from a conscious, handcrafted process, where Flor Brunel works the pigments by hand with natural binders, following vegan and sustainable formulas.
Her collections stem from small stories and personal inspirations: artists, landscapes, places, and elements of nature. Each color seeks to preserve the essence of its origin, transforming memories, sensations, and natural beauty into watercolors created to inspire new stories.
Brunel collaborates with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza on a special collection of four watercolor tins inspired by different works from its collection.
Each set has been created from the chromatic palette of a selected work and brings together the essential colors to reinterpret or reproduce it. This collaboration unites art and creation, bringing the public closer to the possibility of experiencing painting with the same tones that gave life to emblematic pieces of the museum.
