Paula Velásquez Bohórquez is a creator who fuses traditional jewelry and contemporary experimentation in her workshop in Cabañas de Polendos, Segovia.
Trained at the Escuela de Arte 3 in Madrid as an enameller and jeweler, her artistic practice draws on the knowledge and technical skill acquired over decades in the goldsmith trade, achieving a balance between technical rigor and creative freedom.
Her creative process emerges from exploring the artistic possibilities of enamel, an ancient technique that she constantly pushes to its expressive limits. In her pieces, inspired by organic forms and nature, glass and metal engage in an unexpected dialogue where color takes center stage.
As she works, an intimate and involuntary connection is established between the hands that shape the material and her inner world, giving life to unique pieces closely linked to memory, experience, and visual sensibility.
With a distinguished career spanning over twenty years in the jewelry and fashion accessories sector, Paula Velásquez has worked closely with renowned designers and prestigious international brands. Her professional experience comprehensively covers both the conceptualization and design of collections as well as product management and manufacturing, which gives her a global vision of the craft.
Currently, she focuses her creative energy in her studio in Segovia, a creative space where she develops both her line of artistic jewelry and автор (designer) pieces with their own identity, as well as simple jewelry designed for everyday wear. Her commitment to the discipline is also reflected in her teaching work, where she offers courses and workshops aimed at transmitting jewelry and enamel techniques to those who seek to learn or perfect the craft with discernment and creativity.
Paula Velásquez collaborates with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza on a special collection of entirely handmade fine jewelry. This exclusive series has been created inspired by the botanical atmosphere and the chromatic palette of Martin Johnson Heade's "Orchid and Hummingbird Near a Waterfall."
Each piece encapsulates the purity of silver, the vibrancy of kiln-fired enamel, and the delicacy of glass beads. This collaboration unites art and high craftsmanship, translating the essence of an emblematic museum canvas into a subtle, wearable three-dimensional proposal.
