Yubero lathe
From his workshop in Madrid, Pablo Yubero, founder of Yubero Torno, creates objects born on the potter's wheel: bowls, vases, stools, and sculptures crafted from fine woods selected for their origin and texture. Each piece emerges from a dialogue between the tool, the hand, and the material. The process is entirely manual, guided by respect for the wood's natural forms and by attentive listening to what the material has to say.
His work seeks a balance between the organic and the geometric, between tradition and a contemporary perspective. He is interested in imperfection, the passage of time, and the mark left by the process. In each piece, the grain tells a different story: that of the tree, that of the hand's gesture, and that of the moment when both meet.
More than objects, his pieces are a form of slow, deliberate thought, an invitation to calmly contemplate what is made by hand and endures.
Pablo
Pablo explains his vocation: "Since childhood, wood has been a constant presence in my life. I grew up surrounded by it, not only as a material, but as part of my daily routine. My family worked with wood, and from a young age, I learned to observe how it transformed into furniture, objects, and structures. I was fascinated by its smell, its texture, and how it changed over time. That early experience awakened a curiosity in me that, over the years, became a passion and a profession. I learned to work with it with respect, listening to what each piece had to tell me. Today, I continue to explore its possibilities, creating pieces that seek a balance between design, functionality, and art. My work is a synthesis of tradition and modernity, of the organic and the geometric, of nature and human intervention."
