Based in Nantes for the past two decades and deeply influenced by her roots in Tenerife, Natalia Franquet is a designer whose work is a constant exploration between the Atlantic and artisanal tradition. Her creative process is defined by a curious and open perspective, where intuition guides the contemporary reinterpretation of ancestral techniques.
Dreamy Creativity
Her work is distinguished by the use of noble materials, with special mastery in linen, percale cotton, and hand-embroidered wool. Under a philosophy that prioritizes the timeless, the discreet, and the unisex, Franquet creates pieces designed to transcend fleeting fashions. Her approach reflects a commitment to quality and delicacy, embodying a vision where design becomes an exercise in introspection and dreamy creativity.
Ethical and Responsible Production
A fundamental pillar of their process is supplier selection. They collaborate with workshops in India that use traditional artisanal techniques, prioritizing those that maintain ethical and responsible production standards (such as Sedex certifications). This indicates an artistic process that integrates sustainability and respect for traditional crafts as part of the product's final value.
Natalia Franquet x Thyssen
It all began with a trip to Kashmir and a meeting with Zamir and his family, artisans specialized in wool weaving and embroidery for generations. Fascinated by the quality of their work, she decided to support them and bring their expertise to Europe.
Back in France, she began collaborations with the shop of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (MAD) and later with museums in Spain, especially the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, whose vision of uniting art, craftsmanship, and contemporary design she deeply admires.
Her work seeks to reinterpret artistic heritage into current and functional pieces, creating stoles and scarves inspired by art without literally reproducing it.
