This exhibition presented by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is a reflection on one of the works in its collection entitled Moonlight with a Path Along a Canal (ca. 1645-1650) by the painter Aert van der Neer. This artist was one of the most outstanding landscape painters of the Dutch Golden Age.
Alberto Reguera has created twenty-three works - expressly created for this exhibition - inspired by two aspects of Van der Neer's work.
Firstly, from a formal point of view, in its own support. Secondly, in its content and essence, having as its main axis the fact that this panel was painted at a time when there was a change in the typical composition of landscape painting in Holland, since from the 1630s onwards the skies acquired great relevance.
