In the summer of 2022 and for the first time in Spain, the museum presented a retrospective on the American painter Alex Katz (born in New York, 1927), one of the key figures in the history of 20th-century American art and a precursor of Pop Art that remains active today.
The exhibition was curated by Guillermo Solana and Tomàs Llorens, Artistic Director and Emeritus Artistic Director of the museum, respectively, and is supported by the artist and his studio, who are in close contact with this project. The show will include around thirty large-format oil paintings accompanied by several studies, which offer a tour of all the artist's usual themes: his individual, double and group portraits, together with his characteristic flowers and his wide landscapes painted with bright colours and flat backgrounds.
