Although Gabriele Münter's role as a woman creator was key to avant-garde European art, she is still unknown to the general public. Beyond making her known, this exhibition seeks to vindicate her figure as a fundamental element in the origin and development of German expressionism.
The life of this artist is full of travels and relocations that not only marked her life
not only marked her vital trajectory, but also her professional development.
professional development. She used to travel with a notebook in her hands. For this reason, we have conceived this didactic guide as a hybrid between a travel notebook and a personal diary.
In it you will find information about the artist and the works in the exhibition, as well as
of the exhibition, as well as connections to other works in the Thyssen National
the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza collection.
Seeking an evocative tone for the guide, we introduce each chapter with a small text that we have
each chapter with a short text that we have entitled
“Fictional diary of a life on a journey”. It is a literary concession
literary concession that, although based on real events, are not words that the artist uttered.
We want you to feel this publication as your own
diary, your travel notebook. To this end, we have included spaces
where, based on a series of didactic proposals,
you will be able to leave your own notes, comments,
drawings... so that you can personalize it,
make it your own. We recommend you to have a pencil at hand,
pen or even colored pencils.
