Snowy, sparkling landscapes. The mountain, imposing. The Alps and their blue lands inspired the German painter Gabriele Münter with some of her best paintings. Founder and member of the artistic group The Blue Rider, she played a fundamental role in the development of German expressionism at the beginning of the 20th century.
Mayte Alvarado looks at the stages of Gabriele Münter's life, from her arrival in the village of Murnau to her stay in Paris, and recreates the German painter's own paintings as part of the graphic novel's setting. A stroll through Münter's art, often unjustly overshadowed by her sentimental relationship with Kandinsky, in the rhythm of the four seasons.
Gabriele Münter. The Blue Lands is a co-publication between Astiberri and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza on the occasion of the exhibition Gabriele Münter. The great expressionist painter, which will be open in Madrid from 12 November 2024 to 9 February 2025.
