The museum presents Memorias mestizas , an exhibition in which the Afro-Andalusian artist Carla Hayes Mayoral (Málaga, 1997) questions us about the colonial past of Spain and Europe, from an identity-based perspective. Through the combination of a material so characteristic of African culture such as raffia and visual references from the Western collective imagination, Hayes Mayoral deploys a mestizo and neo-baroque installation that subverts the notion of a space of power. The theatricality and wonder at the marvel of its apparently aesthetic execution lead to the deconstruction of the hegemonic narrative.
