Pal.lium is the confluence of three personal projects: those of Carlos Daz, Sandra Bastn, and Manuel Otero, who understand community knowledge as a source of wealth and teamwork as a value.
The textile studio researches traditional weaving from different territories, primarily Galicia, and creates products that showcase this inherited knowledge, both in the design of its own pieces and based on the demands of different clients.
The main lines of creation are aimed at the production of household items and
Traditional and contemporary clothing accessories. With a few exceptions, we only use natural fibers, both plant-based (linen, cotton, etc.) and animal-derived (wool, cashmere, alpaca, silk), avoiding synthetic textile fibers. Pal.lium is a project that cares for memory, the environment, and people. Pal.lium is also poetry written with thread.
Applying traditional weaving knowledge involves manufacturing the tools needed to create cloth, as many of these tools are not available on the market today (reed combs, looms with very specific characteristics, fulling mills, etc.).
At Pal.lium the production process begins with the recovery and manufacturing of tools
Tools for creating unique, high-quality cloths. The design of pieces begins with a study of the intended use of each product, to decide on the weave, threads and other materials, colors, etc. In some specific cases, the pieces also require the production of the threads themselves, made of linen and wool.
The production process is similar for all pieces: design, warp preparation, loom assembly, weaving, and finishing. Times vary greatly depending on the difficulty and quantity of pieces.
