This catalogue presents the first retrospective in Spain of Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986). Through a selection of approximately 80 works, it immerses us in the pictorial universe of this artist, considered one of the greatest representatives of 20th century American art.
This is a complete tour of O'Keeffe's artistic career, from the works of the 1910s that made her a pioneer of abstraction, through to her famous flowers and views of New York - thanks to which she was elevated to one of the main figures of modernity in her country - to her paintings of New Mexico, the fruit of her fascination with the landscape and the mixture of cultures of this remote territory.
The Georgia O'Keeffe exhibition has been organized by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Centre Pompidou and the Fondation Beyeler in collaboration with the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After its stop in Madrid, the exhibition travels to Paris and Basel.
