This exhibition is the fourth installment of the annual Kora programme at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, dedicated to Spanish artists working from a gender perspective.
The fourth edition of the annual Kora programme is dedicated to Marina Núñez, a great contemporary Spanish artist who has worked from the beginning with a gender perspective. The fifteen pieces on display, some created especially for the exhibition, cover a wide range of media. Marina Núñez is best known as a creator of video art, but her deep pictorial roots are more evident in this visit to an art gallery like the Thyssen. Some of the pieces have been installed in the gallery of old masters and establish very intense relationships with certain Renaissance paintings.
The exhibition represents the artist's metaphorical universe well. It is marked by the polarity between the human body, especially the female body, and Nature, embodied in several pieces by flowers (Marina Núñez's flowers coexist in our museum this spring with those of Georgia O'Keeffe). Between the two poles, all kinds of fusions and metamorphoses occur.
